ABOUT ARTIST
Working with threads derived from the fibrous ramie and hemp plants, Heejoo Choi handcrafts a linen-like material which she then uses in beautifully irregular pieces that emphasise texture and the unique voids of space. The fabrics she creates have been traditionally used in clothing in Korea since ancient times because of their breathability. Due to its toughness and durability – alongside its porous nature – the material lends itself perfectly to use in the serving and storage of food.
